National Night Out 2018: Sign-Ups Underway In Pacifica
The deadline to request visits at your events from Pacifica police is this week.

PACIFICA, CA – This year's National Night Out, the annual evening to promote police partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 7. And sign-ups are underway for Pacifica neighborhoods interested in having event drop-ins from the Pacifica Police Department.
Applications are due to the police department by Thursday, Aug. 2.
Millions of neighbors in thousands of communities across the U.S. take part in National Night Out, started in 1984, on the first Tuesday in August with block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and often with such activities as safety demonstrations and visits from emergency personnel.

"The City of Pacifica is supporting the spirit of National Night Out by inviting residents and businesses to turn on their porch lights and get out and meet their neighbors in informal block gatherings and activities," the department said. "When residents on a block know each other, the neighborhood and the community is safer and stronger.
"Many blocks, apartment complexes and businesses annually register to participate in the event. Some are having ice cream socials, some are having barbecues, and others are just having residents and owners turn on their porch light between 6:30 and 9:00 PM. It is up to each block and business that participates to decide how they want to gather together with their neighbors."

“We are really excited to be bringing National Night Out to the block level. This is a great opportunity for neighbors and business communities to get to know each other and if they aren’t already part of Neighborhood Watch, this will be a perfect time to get it started!” Chief of Police Dan Steidle. said.
