Pacifica Coastal Advocacy Group Seeks ‘Earth Heroes’

The Pacifica Beach Coalition is recruiting volunteers to help with its litter cleanup program.

PACIFICA, CA — A Peninsula environmental advocacy group is recruiting volunteers to help with cleanup on Pacifica beaches and nearby areas amid COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

The Pacifica Beach Coalition is recruiting “Earth Heroes” to help with its litter cleanup program.

The group has had to cancel organized coastal cleanup efforts since shelter-in-place orders restricting the congregation of outdoor groups went into effect on March 17.

“As you are well aware, all of our events and beach cleanups are cancelled due to COVID-19. However, litter is still around us and the ocean still needs our help,” the group said on its website.

The group is asking individuals, families or quarantine partners to help with an area in need of cleanup area or to adopt a specific location.

Participants are required to sign on online waiver as part of a four-step process required for volunteering.
