Pacifica Islanders Raising Money for Family Members of Fire Victims

The Pacifica Islanders, a local minor league football team, are raising funds for the Haro and Virgen family following a house fire that left a 13-year-old boy and his great grandfather dead and their family in dire straits.

All proceeds from the Islanders’ game against the Tuolumne County Outlaws on Saturday, April 21, will go toward the family, of which 11 members were left homeless and without belongings following the fire on April 1.

13-year-old Christian Haro was a student at at the time of his death. He was living with 12 family members in a house on Inverness Drive in Pacifica, including 93-year-old Javier Virgen, who also died in the fire.

The football game will happen at at 5p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10-12 for adults, $5 for children six to 11 years of age and free for children five and under.
