Pacifica Police Investigate Rumors Of A Threat At Tera Nova High
UPDATED: Police said the school is in "secure campus" mode.

PACIFICA, CA — Police say that Terra Nova High School in Pacifica was secured Friday while they work with administrators to investigate a rumor of shooting planned at the school, according to a statement posted by authorities. The rumor was allegedly spotted online by a student.
"We are aware of a rumored threat on the campus at Terra Nova HS," Pacifica police wrote on Nextdoor. "Officers are on scene and working with school administrators to investigate this matter further."
In the meantime, the high school located at 1450 Terra Nova Blvd. was placed in "secure campus mode," police said.

Authorities released the following news release around 1 p.m. with the latest:
On May 18, 2018 at approximately 11:00 A.M., the Pacifica Police Department was advised by staff at Terra Nova High School that a student had reported seeing a threatening message on social media three days earlier.

The social media post reportedly stated a shooting would occur at Terra Nova High School at noon on May 18. The student had just brought this information to school staff who immediately contacted police.
Officers immediately responded and coordinated with school staff to place the school into secure campus mode.
