Parks land Trails Use Mtng

I  Attended yesterdays open house NPS-SMCo Parks info meet in Pacifica.
Lots of maps+lively discussions on what-where-and why of trails topics over here coastal way.
Had a great discussion w Nancy Horner from the NPS about inter-connective trails around-through Sweeney-Mori Point and Cattle Hill acreage.
Brian Avilas was also informative as we were discussing trails use specifics within the RCdT.
New NPS trails design member Kristen Holder very ably discussed trails locations, possibilities within the RCdT.
Look fwd to seeing many of the trails spoken of brushed back+made accessible in the upcoming years.
Lyndall Erb from Etrac etrac-equestrian.com reflected on the deep roots history of her many years frequenting these lands.
Matt McPhail from Gearhead Bicycles attended and ably spoke of how maintaining-improving access to local trails directly impacts his many youthful bicycle pedalers.
Bern Smith ridgetrail.org was stoked on the ridge trails progress from Daly City's razor thin green corridors through to North Peak+beyond by partnering w existing public agencies to establish through trails.

SMCo Parks program specialists Carla Schoof was on hand to showcase the Devils Slide Rec Area progress.
Carla is looking to recruit volunteers to assist in the very nearly completed Devils Slide M/U trail along the old hwy grade.

One topic that was brought up w staff:
How effective are these open house sessions?
The last 2 open house mtngs were sparsely attended, and with the upcoming holiday season upon us, many of the trails users I spoke with before last nights mtng were already scrambling w time restraints.
A few suggestion I liked, were to stage future info sharing at specific open space areas(tabling) on wknd days. This would garner many users that , for various reasons, are unaware of lands use policy either in effect or proposed.
Also, some sort of hard copy results spreadsheet , that could be understood by simpletons(like myself) that would show how public input received was implemented piecemeal over time x staff.

All in all, I truly enjoyed rapping w the suits, and was great meeting many of the stakeholders.
Best Holiday to All
