Photos: What Does the Winning 1,985-Pound Pumpkin Look Like?

Plus, some interesting facts about Monday's weigh-off.

Gary Miller's pumpkin came in at 1,985 pounds to win the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off Monday. He will take home $25,000.

Growers hoped to beat the new world record set Saturday by Tim Mathison also of Napa, whose 2,032-pound pumpkin broke last year's world record of 2,009 pounds at the 23rd annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off,  hosted by Uesugi Farms of Morgan Hill. 

Mathison entered a different pumpkin in the Half Moon Bay competition Monday morning but it tipped the scale only at 1,894 pounds, placing him in second.

Here are three interesting facts about this year’s weigh-off:

• All growers in this year’s weigh-off competition are from California.
