Highway Reopened Following Rescue Operation In SMC: Cal Fire
Emergency crews are responding to an incident near Gray Whale Cove State Beach, closing the major coastal thoroughfare indefinitely.
PACIFICA, CA — Emergency personnel conducted a rescue operation in the Devil's Slide area south of Pacifica, prompting the full closure of Highway 1, according to Cal Fire.
The highway has been reopened as of 1:30 p.m.
The incident is near Gray Whale Cove State Beach, officials said. Multiple fire engines have been dispatched and are on the scene. Authorities have not yet released any details regarding the nature of the emergency or those involved.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office issued an alert just before 12:30 p.m., announcing the closure of Highway 1 in the immediate vicinity of the response.
