Robber Punched Woman at Safeway, Sending Her to Hospital

The victim was punched in the face several times, according to police.

Police are seeking a man suspected of punching a woman and robbing her of cash at a shopping mall in Pacifica on Thursday, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a strong-armed robbery in front of the Safeway grocery store at the Linda Mar Shopping Center at 10:15 p.m., police said.

A man reportedly punched a woman several times in the face, stole cash from her and then ran towards Highway 1 from Linda Mar Boulevard, police said.

Emergency crews transported the woman, who had visible injuries on her face, to a local hospital and police said officers searched the area but did not find the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man, standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 270 pounds with a clean-shaven face.

Police said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.
