San Mateo County May Create State's First LGBT Commission
"This commission will further the cause of inclusiveness, create a resource to help inform future policy decisions affecting the LGBTQ community, and serve as a model for counties and cities in the State," said board president Pine.
By Bay City News Service:
San Mateo County may become the first county or city in the state to establish a commission focused on the needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community, according to a spokesman for county supervisor David Pine.
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will vote on a resolution at its June 3 board meeting, which, if passed, would create the LGBTQ Commission, spokesman David Burruto said.
Representatives of the LGBTQ community collaborated with Pine, the sponsor of the resolution, in developing the proposed commission.
"This commission will further the cause of inclusiveness, create a resource to help inform future policy decisions affecting the LGBTQ community, and serve as a model for counties and cities in the State," said board president Pine.
The board of supervisors will meet Tuesday, June 3 at 9 a.m. in the supervisors' chambers at 400 County Center in Redwood City.
