Shelter-In-Place Lifted In SMC After Police Investigate Gunshots

Police sent out an alert at 12:46 p.m. telling locals to stay inside as they conduct an investigation.

HALF MOON BAY, CA β€” Police sent out an alert Thursday telling residents in Half Moon Bay to shelter in place and avoid an area as they conducted an investigation into possible gunshots.

At 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office lifted the shelter-in-place alert.

At around 12:46 p.m. on Thursday, the SMC Sheriff's Office sent out an alert stating they were conducting an investigation in the area of Pilarcitos Avenue and St. John Avenue in Half Moon Bay.

Police said they responded to the sound of gun shots in the area and found one dead man, who they believe committed suicide.
