Sheriff's Office Searches for Missing, Possibly Suicidal, Man

San Mateo County Sheriff's officials say they found the man's car.

By Bay City News:

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man missing since Sunday who may be suicidal, a spokeswoman said.

Brian Butler, 36, was reported missing when his friends found his car parked along state Highway 1 south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels at Devil's Slide, sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

Further investigation revealed that Butler had recently been depressed and was possibly suicidal, Rosenblatt said.

He had been seen driving near the San Mateo County Coast over the weekend and was not heard from since, she said.

Butler is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.

Anyone who might have information about the case is asked to contact San Mateo County Sheriff's Detective Lisandro Lopez at (650) 363-4055 or the sheriff's anonymous tip line at (800) 547-2700.
