Two Men Accused of Shooting Pedestrians With a BB Gun

Two men accused of shooting pedestrians with a BB gun in downtown Half Moon Bay on Monday night have pleaded not guilty to assault charges, according to the district attorney's office.

Aaron Heath, 19, of San Carlos, and Aaron Botham, 20, of Half Moon Bay, have each been charged with three counts of assault and three counts of battery in connection with the shootings.

In the first incident, deputies were dispatched to Filbert and Main streets last night at about 9:45 p.m. after someone reported being shot by two people in a passing car, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

A short time later, two more victims reported being shot as they were walking into a business near Main and Mill streets, and a fourth reported being shot at, but not hit, near the Strawflower Village Shopping Center.

No one was seriously injured.

Deputies spotted the suspects' car pulling into the shopping center and contacted the occupants, Heath and Botham. They searched the car and found a black BB pistol in the back seat, a box of BBs in the front seat and half a gram of marijuana, according to the sheriff's office.

The two men were arraigned in San Mateo County Superior Court on Tuesday and are scheduled to reappear for a preliminary hearing on April 27.
