Two Surfers Rescued Near Pacifica, Coast Guard Says

The agency aided the surfers in distress over the weekend.

PACIFICA, CA- U.S. Coast Guard crews rescued two surfers over the weekend at a beach between Pacifica and Moss Beach, Coast Guard officials said.

A Good Samaritan reported the surfers in distress at 3:04 p.m. Saturday drifting north from Montara State Beach toward Gray Whale Cove State Beach. The Coast Guard deployed a rescue boat and a rescue helicopter, which located the surfers at Gray Whale Cove State Beach, according to Coast Guard officials.

The crew lowered a rescue swimmer who assessed the condition of the surfers. One surfer was taken by helicopter to Stanford Medical Center with possible signs of hypothermia, Coast Guard officials said.

The other surfer was treated nearby.
