Photos: Hundreds Stand Vigil For Pacifica Fire Victims

Hundreds of community members, both associated with local schools and not, blocked Inverness Drive for hours last night as they held vigil for two victims of a . 

Irma Haro, the grandmother of , 13, who died in the fire, and daughter of a 91-year-old man who died in the same fire, led the group in prayers and rounds of "Amazing Grace" before the very house where tragedy struck. 

The family had sent out a note to the and  communities, both places of learning for the Haro children, inviting parents and students to attend the vigil. 

“I knew a lot of people would show up,” Sue Chavez, a Sunset Ridge Elementary School PTO member said. “We’re a very, very close community and when I heard about it Just thought of a lot of different families, because there’s a lot of us who grew up here for many, many years. All these right here went to all the school right around here, so it’s good to see the support, the love because I know the caring and the compassion are definitely there.”

The Sunset Ridge principal and PTO have set up a memorial fund for the Haro Family, she said. She encouraged community members to donate. 

If you would like to make a donation, you can do it by:

1. Sending a check made out to the Haro Family Memorial Fund to Sunset Ridge Elementary School, 340 Inverness Drive, Pacifica, CA 94044. They will deposit the funds for you. or
2. Go by any Wells Fargo Bank and deposit the money directly into the Haro Family Memorial Fund. Account #8882135802.
3. If you are a Wells Fargo customer, you can transfer funds to the Haro Family Memorial Fund electronically.
