WEATHER ALERT: Lots of Heavy Rain to Continue in Pacifica

National Weather Service officials are predicting a wet Christmas week here in the Peninsula.

Today will likely see rain in the morning, followed by rain in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 50s and south winds will reach 10 to 15 miles per hour, becoming southwest winds reaching around 20 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight will see rain, with heavy rain at times. Lows will be in the mid 50s and west winds will reach around 20 mph.

Tuesday will likely see showers. Highs will be in the lower 60s and west winds will reach 15 to 20 mph.

Here’s the full forecast from the National Weather Service for the Pacifica area for the next few days:

• Today: Rain likely, mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. South southwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Tonight: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 54. Breezy, with a west wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Tuesday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 60. West wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Tuesday Night: A chance of showers before 4am, then a chance of rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. West northwest wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Northwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Thursday: Rain. High near 52. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
• Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Breezy.
• Christmas Day: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 53.
• Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

The rainfall totals are on top of a good weekend soaking.
