Attempted Murder Suspect Caught On Camera Near Wilshire Boulevard

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles detectives are asking for help identifying an attempted murder suspect who smashed a man over the head near Wilshire Boulevard before riding off on his bike.

The attack left his victim hospitalized and unable to provide investigators with information about the attack.

Officers responded about 6:15 p.m. on April 22 to the area of Crescent Heights and Wilshire boulevards to investigate an assault with a deadly weapon report, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

"Upon arrival, they found a victim suffering from a 6-inch laceration to the back of his head," the statement said. "The investigation revealed the suspect was riding a bicycle when he approached the victim from behind. The suspect got off of his bicycle and struck the victim over the head with an unknown hard object."

The suspect then rode off on the bike, police said.

"Due to the nature of the victim's injuries (he) is unable to provide detectives with any additional information," according to the LAPD.

The suspect, whose image was captured by a surveillance camera, is white, 40-50 years old, about 6 feet 1 inch tall with short gray hair. He wore a dark blue hoodie, checkered shorts and was riding a possible white and silver mountain bike with a basket on the front.
