Washington Post Ranks Pali High 83rd in CA

The Washington Post ranks public and private schools by looking at the number of college-level tests administered, as well as the number of graduating seniors.

According to The Washington Post's "High School Challenge Index," is ranked 83 in California and 611 in the nation.

The report was released earlier this week, just about the same time . In that study, Pali High was ranked 588 out of 1,000 of the top public high schools in the country.

The Washington Post report ranked schools both nationally and by state. The rankings were based on the number of college-level tests given at a school in 2011 divided by the number of graduates that year. The report also considered the percentage of students who came from families that qualified for lunch subsidies and the "Equity and Excellence" rate (E&E). That E&E rate is the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career.

Pali High ranked 83rd out of 293 schools in California. It ranked 611 against more than 1,900 schools across the country.
