Pacific Palisades Under No-Burn Order for New Year's Eve

The order is in effect because of high smog level and stagnant air.

Wood-fired heating will be prohibited starting at midnight Monday, and lasting 24 hours into New Years Eve, because of high smog levels and stagnant air.

The "no burn day" order will be in effect in Los Angeles and Orange counties, and much of the Inland Empire, with a few exceptions, said officials at the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Persons who have wood as their sole source of heat, or those living above the 3,000-foot elevation, are exempt. Also exempt are persons with low income.
