Crews Battle Palisades Brush Fire Flare Up

Hot embers from last week's Pacific Palisades brush fire reignited amid 25 mph wind gusts Thursday night.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Helicopter crews were dropping water on a hotspot flare-up from last week's Pacific Palisades brush fire in the 1000 block of North Vista Grande.

The hot embers burned in deep brush in the previous burn area amid 25-mile-per-hour wind gusts at about 9 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters working in the previous burn area spotted the embers, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The brush fire erupted last week burning racing up the hillside toward Charnel Lane and North Vista Grande, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from overtaking the homes. Since the fire was extinguished last week, embers continued to smolder this week with Palisades Patrol private security officers spotting smoke earlier on Tuesday.
