Two Pacific Palisades Students From Univ. of San Diego Study in Europe

James Donnell of Pacific Palisades studied in London this summer. Donnell expects to graduate in spring 2012. While immersed in the rich and complex culture of London, students were able to watched the city as it prepares for the 2012 Olympic Games this summer. Many of the faculty used the Olympics as a context for examining the subject being taught. Courses combined classroom study with excursions, field trips, visits to theatres, museums and cathedrals, and guest speakers drawn from the rich world of British scholarly and cultural life. The program took place from June 14 to July 7.

Kirsten Crowe of Pacific Palisades studied in Paris this summer. Crowe expects to graduate in spring 2011. The program immersed students in Parisian history, tradition and culture. Students had the opportunity to experience the city's distinct personalities on each side of the Seine River - the spacious boulevards and formal buildings of the Right Bank and the cultural and intellectual reputation of the Left Bank. Students visited both familiar landmarks and many of the city's enchanting nooks. Classes were offered in a variety disciplines and lecture materials were enhanced through excursions and site visits throughout the city. The program took place from May 31 to June 29.

USD is ranked first in the nation for the percentage of undergraduate students studying abroad, according to the Institute of International Education's latest Open Doors Report. More than 71 percent of all USD undergraduate students study abroad.
