Alaska Airlines Expands Service At Palm Springs Intl. Airport

Alaska Airlines is the latest airline to announce new or expanded service to Palm Springs International Airport in recent weeks.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Alaska Airlines announced Monday it plans to expand its offerings at Palm Springs International Airport by adding nonstop flights to San Jose International Airport, Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Boise Airport in Idaho beginning Dec. 17.

The Palm Springs-to-San Jose route will be year-round, while the other two will be part of the airline's seasonal schedule that runs from Dec. 17 through April 12, according to the airline.

"As demand for leisure travel returns, for those ready to fly the coup, we're excited to offer even more nonstop routes this winter," said Brett Catlin, Alaska's managing director of capacity and alliance.

Alaska Airlines is the latest airline to announce new or expanded service to Palm Springs International Airport in recent weeks.

San Francisco-based Boutique Air plans to add daily nonstop year-round service to and from Palm Springs and Los Angeles International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport starting Oct. 1. The carrier's Pilatus PC-12 single- engine turboprop passenger planes carry eight passengers.

Meanwhile, JetBlue Airlines will begin seasonal nonstop flight service from Palm Springs to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beginning Dec. 18 through March.

JetBlue also plans to begin seasonal flights between Palm Springs and other airportsin the near future. Service to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York is expected to begin Nov. 6, and service to Boston Logan International Airport is scheduled to kick off Dec. 19.

Southwest Airlines announced Sept. 3 that it intends to start flying year-round to airports in both Palm Springs and Miami, which is also scheduled to begin later this year, pending government approval.
