DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A 19-year-old man suspected of possession of an unserialized firearm in Desert Hot Springs was arrested, authorities said Wednesday.

Bail information was not immediately available.

On Oct. 2, at about 2 p.m., patrolling officers observed that a green BMW failed to stop at a stop sign at Ocotillo Road and Hacienda Avenue, police said.

Officers attempted to catch up with the vehicle, but the driver allegedly noticed the police vehicle and sped up at a high rate of speed, traveling southbound on Ocotillo.

The BMW then parked at an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Ocotillo Road, which neither the driver nor passenger resided at, Saucier said. Officers instructed the motorist to exit the vehicle to pat him down to search for weapons before he fled on foot, prompting a brief pursuit, police said.

An officer deployed a Taser and took Boulden into custody. The vehicle's passenger also fled on foot before voluntarily surrendering to police.

Josiah Bernard, 18, of Desert hot Springs was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, Saucier said.

While searching the BMW, officers allegedly found a "loaded unserialized 9mm handgun, commonly referred to as a ghost gun, concealed inside the center console," police said.
