BNP Paribas Open Goes On Despite Strong Winds
Wind gusts as high as 60 mph were expected through 10 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Despite a passing low pressure system that brought wind gusts up to nearly 60 mph to the Palm Desert area Monday, the women's qualifying matches kicked off the first day of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament without any delays.
A high wind warning was issued Monday and was expected to last through 10 tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
The winds were measured between 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts as high as 60 mph in some areas, the weather service reported.

Matt Van Tuinen, a spokesman for the tournament, said the wind had not delayed any matches so far.
Men's qualifying begins Tuesday.
