Celebrate The Debut Of New Sculptures On El Paseo

Get ready to see some new artwork on the famed street.

From Palm Desert Art: The public is invited to a free ceremony celebrating the arrival of new sculptures on the median of Palm Desert’s world famous shopping thoroughfare as the City of Palm Desert marks the debut of the 2019/2020 El Paseo Sculpture Exhibition on Tuesday, January 29 at 10:30 a.m. at The Gardens on El Paseo.

The 18 sculptures that make up the new exhibition are already on display in the El Paseo median including a fanciful red heart, a soaring butterfly, a comical visage, and a variety of abstract pieces that give free reign to the viewer’s imagination. Palm Desert’s Art in Public Places Commission selected the 18 artworks from among scores of artists who submitted their work for consideration. The 2019/2020 Exhibition includes works from local Coachella Valley artists as well sculptures created by artists from around the United States and Canada. The public will have an opportunity to meet and interact with many of the featured artists at the dedication ceremony. The new sculptures will be displayed on pads in the El Paseo median for two years. Docent-led walking tours feature the Exhibition’s sculptures and the City’s public art collection. These tours are free and open to the public. For more information, please call 760-346-0611, ext. 664 or visit www.palmdesertart.org.
