'Chellavision' Short Film Festival Coming to Indio

The short film festival will showcase programs featuring narrative, documentary, music video, animation and experimental categories.

From the City of Indio: Coachella Magazine presents the Chellavision Short Film Festival on Saturday, November 18at the Indio Performing Arts Center (IPAC) from 4:00-9:30 p.m. The short film festival – sponsored by the city of Indio – will showcase programs featuring narrative, documentary, music video, animation and experimental categories. Independent films were chosen among over 3,000 submissions from 115 countries. Tickets are $5 per show.

For the music category, the festival will be screening “Everyday Dreaming” by local band, The Flusters, and directed by Wolf Mearns. The official music video for the Flusters’ new single, “Everyday Dreaming” is a cinematic concept video shot locally over 3 days. The single was released on iTunes and Spotify on November 10, 2017.

“I’m thrilled to see the number of submissions from around the world, and to share their films and stories with our community,” said Jorge Perezchica, Founder/Editor-in-Chief of Coachella Magazine. “I hope audiences come away inspired and that it sparks a new conversation about diverse subject matter and viewpoints. A special thank you to the city of Indio for their support.”

Chellavision’s November 18th talk show hosted by Rowland Akinduro will be presented at 10:00 p.m. on November 18 and taped in front of a live audience with guest artists Carly Valentine to talk about her special project, “Daughters of the Desert,” and musical performance by Crow.

"Our mission is to showcase visionary film artists who push creative boundaries, from the United States and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their work,” said Rowland Akinduro, Producer/Host/Editor. “As an actor, I feel that film is the gateway to infinite expressions.”

Attendees can also enjoy an Afterparty with DJ Gallo Negro (James Gastelum). Due to an overwhelming amount of submissions, a second date has also been scheduled on December 16, 2017.

“Indio continues to emerge as a hub for celebrating art of all forms,” said Mayor Elaine Holmes. “We’re so proud to be the destination of this short film festival, and welcome those who love and appreciate film to come out and explore all that the Chellavision Short Film Festival has to offer.”
