Children's Discovery Museum Opens New Outdoor Music Exhibit
The instruments can be heard from the parking lot and are the beginning of a musical pathway leading from the picnic area.
From CDMOD:Visitors to the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert (CDMOD) may notice a sweet sound coming from the Museum. With a grant from The Sweet Stuff Foundation, CDMOD has installed three outdoor musical instruments.
The instruments can be heard from the parking lot and are the beginning of a musical pathway leading from the picnic area to the traveling exhibit gallery. Visitors are encouraged to play on the tuned drums, strike a chime, or play a musical melody on the large metallophone, a type of xylophone.
“Music is such an important part of a child’s life. It provides children and families with a creative outlet for energy and thoughts,” said Carol E. Scott, CDMOD CEO. “We are very excited for this gift and partnership with The Sweet Stuff Foundation, which is providing the Museum with a much needed musical component for our members and visitors to enjoy.”
The Sweet Stuff Foundation is based in Palm Desert. The nonprofit is committed to providing assistance for music lessons, instruments, and musical collaborations for children and to foster atmospheres of creativity and introduce a healthy outlet via music, so that the “Sweet Stuff” will continue for generations to come.
