Coachella Weekend 2 Camping Delayed Due To Severe Winds
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning set to be in effect from 11:00 p.m. Wednesday through 2 a.m. Friday.

PALM DESERT, CA – Coachella 2018 festival organizers are planning to delay the opening of on-site camping in Indio for the second weekend of the festival until early Friday morning due to severe wind conditions expected to hit the desert. Car and tent campers are usually allowed to enter the Empire Polo Grounds on Thursday, but gusty winds are expected to thrash around Coachella Valley Thursday, increasing the risk of downed trees and power lines, as well as reducing visibility for drivers, ABC7 reported.
Assuming conditions are safe, camping will now open at 3 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning set to be in effect from 11:00 p.m. Wednesday through 2 a.m. Friday, with an expectation of 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph, the Desert Sun reported.
Campsite set-ups, tent canopies and pop-up tents will not be permitted until the winds die down, ABC7 reported.
