COD Offers Professional Security Officer Training

College of the Desert's Partnership and Community Education is offering fee-based, not for credit, Professional Security Officer Training.

From the College of the Desert: College of the Desert’s (COD’s) Partnership and Community Education (PaCE) is offering fee-based, not for credit, Professional Security Officer Training.

PaCE is in partnership with the California Association of Licensed Security Agencies, Guards & Associates (CALSAGA) offer the 120-hour Security Guard skills training course that follows the AB 2880 prescribed standards that meet the registration requirements of the State of California, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.

Instructional training includes: Powers to Arrest, AB2880 Laws, BSIS Firearms, BSIS Baton, Taser & Pepper Spray, Executive Protection, Officer Safety, Campus Security, Courtroom Environment, Loss Prevention, Interview & Interrogation, Workplace Violence, Preserving the Scene, Crowd Control, Evacuation Procedures, Handling Difficult People, Trespassing/Supervision, and Radio “10” Codes.

To complete the registration process, applicants must: be at least 18 years old, undergo a criminal history background check through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and successfully complete the program and the end of course exam.

The session is Feb. 6 to March 2, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at PaCE in the Westfield Mall, 72840 Highway 111, Suite C101, Palm Desert, CA 92260. The cost is $2,900, and includes a Live Scan-DOJ fingerprint processing fee, FBI and the Security Guard Application.
