Colin Farrell Awarded Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor: 2023

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs International Film Awards announced Friday that Colin Farrell will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor at the January awards event for his performance in "The Banshees of Insisherin."

The film awards will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 North Avenida Caballeros, on Jan. 5, 2023. The festival will continue until Jan. 16, 2023, according to a statement from thePalm SpringsInternational Film Festival.

Festival Chairman Harold Matzner spoke on the award and Ferrell in a recent news release.

"Colin Farrell reunites with Brendan Gleeson and director Martin McDonagh in the masterful comedy 'The Banshees of Inisherin.' Farrell gives a memorable performance as Pádraic, a sweet-souled Irish farmer trying to save his lifelong friendship," Matzner said. "For this career-best performance, we are honored to present the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor to Colin Farrell."

The award adds to Farrell's over 20-year honors in both film and television. Farrell is the winner of a 2009 Golden Globe for his performance in "In Bruges." He has several other nominations for Golden Globe Awards, British Independent Film Awards, and European Film Awards.

Farrell joins fellow actor recipients of the Desert Palm Achievement Award, including Riz Ahmed, Jeff Bridges, Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, Adam Driver, Colin Firth, Andrew Garfield, Matthew McConaughey, Gary Oldman, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and Eddie Redmayne.

In the years they were honored, Bridges, Day-Lewis, McConaughey, Oldman, Penn and Redmayne went on to win the Academy Award® for Best Actor. At the same time, Ahmed, Cooper, Driver, Garfield, Firth and Pitt received Best Actor Oscar® nominations, the Palm Springs International Film Society said in its release.
