College Of The Desert Street Fair To Reopen New Year's Weekend

PALM DESERT, CA — The College of the Desert Street Fair will reopen New Year's weekend, it was announced Tuesday.

The fair, open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays starting Jan. 1, will be held outdoors at the COD Palm Desert campus located at 43500 Monterey Ave. It will offer a mix of food, shopping and special events.

"After a long absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to welcome everyone back to our new and improved Street Fair," executive director Betsy Young said. "Familiar and favorite merchants will be joined by new vendors, allowing us to continue offering the wide mix of unique merchandise for which we are so well known."

Proceeds raised at the event will go toward the College of the Desert Alumni Association, which provides scholarships and financial aid to COD students, according to organizers.

Officials said they will follow all COVID-19 precautions recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local and state health officials.
