Coroner IDs Body Found Near Palm Springs Dumpster

The 33-year-old man was found dead around 7:29 a.m. in the 200 block of North Civic Drive​.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A body found Thursday morning near a dumpster in Palm Springs has been identified as that of a 33-year-old Blythe man.

Herman Phillips was found around 7:29 a.m. in the 200 block of North Civic Drive, near Desert Oasis Healthcare Immediate Care, according to Palm Springs Police Department Lt. William Hutchinson.

His body was in an enclosed trash bin area, not in the trash bin itself, Hutchinson said.

Hutchinson called the death suspicious, but there was no word yet as to whether detectives believe a homicide occurred.

The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau reported that Phillips died Thursday, but his time of death was unknown. His "time of injury" was "pending investigation," the bureau also reported.
