Desert Recreation District Announces Spring Fun

From Desert Recreation District: Springtime offers warmer weather, fresh blossoms, extended daylight, and plenty of exciting events. Here at Desert Recreation District (DRD) we have awesome activities and fun camps for children to enjoy. All that’s needed is a smile and some energy. Good times listed below.

Eggstravaganza: Largest Egg Hunt in the Valley

It’s one of the largest because this Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt spans over three valley parks: Mecca Community Park, Bagdouma Park, and Indio Community Center Park. The most eggs, Easter baskets, children, treats, and contests combined. A special visit from Easter Bunny too! For safety, children are divided into separate groups by age. Parents are welcomed to assist those 4 years old and younger only. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the following locations:

• Mecca Community Center Park, Mecca
• Bagdouma Community Center Park, Coachella
• Indio Community Center Park, Indio

Spring Camp: Fun During School Break

April 10 - 14, 2017

Children always have a place to have fun when local schools are on spring break. Indio Community Center and Palm Desert Community Center both offer a full day of activities like basketball, gymnastics, soccer, arts and crafts, and group games too. Making friends and memories, all in a week’s fun. 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Indio & Palm Desert Community Centers.

Spring Scene: More Happy and Hoppy Fun

April 17 - 20, 2017

For children in the Coachella Valley Unified School District on school recess April 17 – 21, we have plenty of activities for them to enjoy too. Children ages 5 – 13 can enjoy crafts, games, and karaoke too!

• 1 – 3 p.m. - Oasis Community, Mecca (Monday & Wednesday)
• 1 – 3 p.m. - Jerry Rummonds’ Senior Center, Thermal (Tuesday & Thursday)

British Soccer Camp: Weeklong Soccer Camp

April 10 - 14, 2017

The most popular soccer camp in the USA and Canada. Children learn from a select line of international coaches from around the world. Kids will get a kick out it, literally. Ages 3 – 18 years old.

• 8 – 11 a.m. at Hovely Soccer Park, Palm Desert
