Desert Town Hall Hosts 'Giving Back' Poetry Contest

The winning poem and a book compiled of all entries will be presented to former Ambassador to Japan on Mar. 8.

From Desert Town Hall: Desert Town Hall, presented by The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, will continue to accept submissions through March 1, for the “Giving Back” poetry contest. The winning poem and a book compiled of all entries will be presented to former Ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy, when she is the featured speaker at Desert Town Hall on March 8.

As an author of 19 New York Times best-selling books, many are anthologies of poetry, a lifelong passion for Kennedy. Notably, she visited the Philippines last week, as part of her ongoing project aimed at connecting young poets across the globe.

The winner of the contest will be selected by Jill Alexander Essbaum, an American poet, writer, and professor, and currently teaching at the University of California Riverside Palm Desert Graduate Center in the Masters of Creative Writing Graduate Program. The winner will be awarded two seats to attend her speech on March 8, taking place at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells. In addition to the contest, a compilation of all poems submitted will be given to Kennedy as a memento of her appearance in Indian Wells, and in honor of her diligent work and dedication to our country.
