DSUSD to Look at Aztec Sign Tonight

The "Aztec Pride" banner mural on the Palm Desert High campus is part of the agenda at tonight's school board meeting.

The future of the at Palm Desert High, which has incurred the , is on the agenda for tonight’s Desert Sands Unified School District Board meeting. 

Also on tonight’s agenda is the approval of a $317 million dollar operating budget for the 2012-2013 school year.  Once passed, the budget will be reviewed by the Riverside County Office of Education for final approval by August 15th

The Board will also review an application for a $27 million dollar grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District for part of the mitigation funds from the north of Palm Springs.  The board would use the money for energy efficient lighting at 15 schools, HVAC replacement at four schools, solar water heating at 26 sites, and the replacement of 32 buses.   The buses, which currently are diesel powered, would be replaced by compressed natural gas and propane fueled buses.

The DSUSD Board beets at 7:00 p.m. in the boardroom at the District Education Center, 47950 Dune Palms Road in La Quinta.
