DUI Suspect With Child In Car Arrested

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — A female motorist was arrested for suspected impaired driving after her black Jeep SUV, with a child inside, veered off the road and struck a traffic signal Sunday night in Rancho Mirage, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash was reported at 10:20 p.m. on the 36700 block of Monterey Avenue, deputies said.

Alexa Ruiz, 27 of Palm Springs, was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment.

Deputies did not release the age of the child or relationship to the driver.
