DUI Suspected In Cathedral City Injury Crash

The collision was reported early Monday at the intersection of Date Palm and East Palm Canyon drives, police said.

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — A 32-year-old man was severely hurt Monday when his vehicle smashed into a traffic pole while he was potentially driving drunk, according to police.

The collision was reported at 1:43 a.m. at the intersection of Date Palm and East Palm Canyon drives, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

Sgt. Albert Ruiz said the driver, identified only as a Palm Desert man, was ejected from the Volkswagen Jetta after impact.

He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said the man was potentially speeding and driving drunk.
