The Episcopal Diocese of Haiti is the largest (and poorest) diocese of the Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Diocese of Haiti is home to nearly 100,000 members, 97 churches, and over 200 Episcopal schools. The earthquake of January 2010 wiped out 70% of Episcopal Church buildings, including Cathédrale Sainte Trinité (Holy Trinity Cathedral) in Port-au-Prince, in a country where annual per capita income is about $480.
As part of St. Margaret’s Lenten Outreach to help with the rebuilding of the Episcopal Cathedral in Haiti, the congregation is pleased to announce that Sandra Swan, author of The New Outreach: Doing Good the Better Way, will present a forum on the earthquake, its aftermath, and current responses in rebuilding and development.
Ms. Swan was the President of Episcopal Relief and Development from 1999 – 2005 and has served on many other international non-profit boards including Church World Service and Heifer International.
