Digital Bookmobile at the Palm Desert Library

The Palm Desert Library will host the nationally touring Digital Bookmobile on Tuesday, February 7th at from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Palm Desert Library, 73-300 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, CA.  Readers of all ages are invited to learn about digital downloading and experience Riverside County Library System eBook download service at this free community event.  Developed inside a 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer, the nationally touring vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades.  The vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high-definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players. Interactive computer stations give visitors an opportunity to search the digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video from the library.

According to City Librarian, Jeannie Kays, “We hope to deliver an engaging download experience where library users can immerse themselves in an interactive learning environment and raise awareness of the Palm Desert Library's download service of digital audiobooks, eBooks, music, and video.”

In addition to the visit by the bookmobile, there will be a Kindle Fire (generously donated by Palm Desert Best Buy) given away to one lucky visitor.
