Film Director, Producer Kim Waltrip Honored In Palm Springs

She will receive the 487th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Film director and producer Kim Waltrip will receive the 487th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars next week in the downtown area.

The dedication ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. April 3 at 275 S. Palm Canyon Drive.

Waltrip will be honored in the category of humanitarian and entertainment for her decades-long film career, including "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby," "Hit and Run" and "7 Days to Vegas," and her community support in the Coachella Valley.

Beyond her career, she supported the arts and philanthropy in leadership roles, including Olive Crest Homes for Abused Children, Tour de Palm Springs and the American Cancer Society's Desert Spirit Gala. She is a longtime board member of Palm Springs Women in Film and Television, founded the Kim Waltrip Filmmakers Lab and was a juror for the city's International FilmFest.

Waltrip has earned several awards, such as the Desert Visionary Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year by Palm Springs Life, Congressional Recognition for Service to the Community and the Women of Distinction Award.

Officials said she has remained committed to helping shape the cultural and civic landscape of Palm Springs since 1987.
