Fire Ignites At Waste Facility Near Cathedral City, Palm Desert
Cal Fire firefighters rushed to the scene where trash was actively burning.

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Fire crews worked to contain a fire Monday at the Burrtec waste facility in the unincorporated area of Cathedral City.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 70100 block of Edom Hill Road, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
"They have an active fire within the disposal area, with trash burning," according to firefighters at the scene.

The fire was contained at 12:38, and firefighters would remain at the facility for "a couple of hours," according to spokesperson Maggie Cline De La Rosa.
Burrtec Waste Industries, which operates the Cathedral City facility, confirmed that firefighters were still on scene at 1 p.m.

"There was an incident at the Edom Hill transfer station," a spokesperson for Burrtec told Patch. "Service was temporarily halted due to the fire. However, they said work was expected to resume on Monday.
Firefighters will remain at the scene for approximately two hours, at approximately 2:30 p.m. There were no injuries reported due to the incident.
No further information was immediately available, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
