Incredible 'Firenado' Captured On Video In California: SEE

A couple captured this incredible interaction between fire and water on the Colorado River in Blythe.

BLYTHE, CA — A couple recently happened upon a truly incredible site: a 'firenado.' (Not to be confused with the fictitious 'sharknado.')

The duo posted footage from Blythe, showing the wildfire burning alongside the Colorado River on Saturday. The video shows the flames growing, putting out a large amount of black smoke. Soon, it can be seen forming into a cone-like shape before moving over the water.

"The extreme heat from the wildfire created a vortex known as a firenado," CNN reported of the footage. "As the firenado spun off across the water it turned into a water spout."

According to Business Insider, firenadoes are similar to dust tornadoes -- just with fire -- and can grow to hundreds of feet tall, while reaching temperatures of up to 2000°F, "so even though they normally last just a few minutes, they can cause severe destruction."

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this case.
