Jet Blue to Launch Service Between Palm Springs, New York

JetBlue Airlines announced Monday it will offer seasonal service between Palm Springs International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, beginning in January.

The flights, subject to regulatory approval, will operate five times per week, Thursdays to Mondays, from Jan. 14 through May 1.

The seasonal service window coincides with major Coachella Valley events, including the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, Stagecoach country music festival and the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament in Indian Wells.

“With direct service to Palm Springs five days a week, winter-weary East Coasters can escape to this desert getaway with 350 days of sunshine easier than ever before,” said Dave Clark, vice president of network planning at JetBlue.

“Palm Springs’ re-emergence as a destination and the area’s nationally recognized events like Coachella make it the perfect addition to our transcontinental route map,” he said.

The route will be served with an Airbus A320, flying one round-trip per day.

Under the proposed flight schedule, Flight 149 will depart JFK airport at 7:45 p.m. local time and arrive in Palm Springs at 10:56 p.m. local time.

Flight 150 will depart Palm Springs at 11:49 p.m. local time and arrive in New York at 7:43 a.m. local time.

Seats went on sale Monday, with fares starting at $99 each way, with a 21-day advance purchase.
