Kenny Rogers Cancels Stagecoach Festival Appearance Due To Health

Rogers was set to perform on the Palomino Stage on Sunday, April 29.

INDIO, CA — Kenny Rogers announced Monday that he is canceling tour dates through the end of the year, including his scheduled performance at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio later this month, due to unspecified health issues.

The 79-year-old singer-songwriter had a final farewell showcase of tour dates set for the `Gambler's Last Deal' tour, which included a stop at Stagecoach, the annual Coachella Valley country music spectacle at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. Rogers was set to perform on the Palomino Stage on Sunday, April 29.

A "series of health challenges" led doctors to advise Rogers to cancel his tour and "focus on recuperation," according to a statement posted online by several venues set to host Rogers' tour.

"I didn't want to take forever to retire," Rogers said in the statement. "I've thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on `The Gambler's Last Deal' tour. I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they've given me throughout my career and the happiness I've experienced as a result of that."

In a Twitter post Monday afternoon, Stagecoach organizers wrote, "Super sad to report @_KennyRogers won't be able to make it this year, per doctor's orders."
