Coroner IDs Palm Springs Crash Victim As Los Angeles Man
A 50-year-old Los Angeles man was identified as the victim of a fatal Palm Springs crash after colliding with a tree.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Coroner's Bureau released the name of a victim killed in a Friday crash in Palm Springs.
Erik Schott, a 50-year-old resident of Los Angeles, died shortly after a crash near the Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs. Schott's next of kin was notified before his name was released, according to the coroner's bureau.
According to police statements, officers responded to the scene Friday afternoon, just before 3 p.m., when a vehicle collided with a tree on the 1800 block of Golf Club Drive.

According to Palm Springs Police, Schott was alone in his vehicle when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Medics transported him to the Desert Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, and it was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor, according to the department. Anyone with information about this incident was asked to contact the Palm Springs Police Department Traffic Unit at 760-323-8125.
