La Quinta Homes Evacuated Following Ruptured Gas Line

Construction workers hit a half-inch gas line, according to the gas company.

LA QUINTA, CA — A ruptured gas line led authorities to evacuate at least a half-dozen La Quinta homes Wednesday, but repair crews were able to stop the leak in about an hour.

The ruptured line was reported just before 2 p.m. in the 78000 block of Talking Rock Turn, within the Tradition Golf Club, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Construction workers hit a half-inch gas line, according to Southern California Gas Co. spokeswoman Christine Detz, who said the utility's crew had the leak capped by 3:03 p.m.
