Library To Shift Summer Programming To Westfield Palm Desert
The move comes as the library prepares to close for renovations.

With a $3.5 million renovation expected to close the Palm Desert Library as early as July, has agreed to host the library's summer programming.
“It’s working out perfectly,’’ said city librarian Jeannie Kays, adding that the events kick off June 13 with a free screening of “Angels in the Outfield” on the lower level of the mall near the Coffee Bean.
Jenna LeMaster, marketing director for the mall, said she called to enquire about performers, but instead discovered the library was looking for a space for its summer events.

“I said come over. Use ours. We have space and it’s important to us to help the community wherever possible,’’ LeMaster said.
Westfield will offer movie screenings every Monday and concerts on Fridays, she said.

The library will presents its story time and other programming on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, according to Kays.
The of the library involves a number of upgrades, including a new audio-visual section, information technology room, “computer zone” and additional space for visitors.
The library is the second-most visited site in the county's library system, according to county documents.
