McCallum Theatre Temporarily Closed Due To Coronavirus

The closure will last through April 30.

PALM DESERT, CA — Due to concerns over coronavirus and a health order issued Thursday in Riverside County, the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert has closed through April 30.

A statement posted to the McCallum website reads:

McCallum Theatre is concerned about the health and safety of our patrons, ticket buyers, volunteers and staff. In response to the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and by order of Cameron Kaiser, M.D., Riverside County Health Officer, Department of Health, McCallum Theatre is suspending all performances scheduled through the end of April. Refunds for all performances will be available through the McCallum Theatre Box Office. If you would like to donate your tickets back to the nonprofit McCallum Theatre for a tax deduction, that option may be discussed with a box office representative at 760-340-2787.

In an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus, all large public events across Riverside County are being cancelled following an announcement Thursday by the county's public health officer.

The county order — which impacts public gatherings of 250 people or more — mirrors recommendations issued Wednesday evening by the California Department of Public Health.

As of Thursday afternoon, Riverside County has eight confirmed COVID-19 cases — six in Coachella Valley and two cruise ship passengers who have not returned to the region since being diagnosed.
