Coronavirus: 15 Riverside County Residents Test Positive
Nearly all cases are in the Coachella Valley.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — Another coronavirus case was confirmed in Riverside County Monday, and two deaths from the disease.

Riverside County now has 15 confirmed COVID-19 cases — 13 in Coachella Valley and two cruise ship passengers, one of which has not returned to the region since being diagnosed, according to Riverside County Public Health spokesman Jose Arballo.
One of the new cases announced Friday was a patient from a Rancho Mirage skilled nursing home, and Riverside County health officials are preparing to test employees and other residents at the 99-bed facility.

The individual spent several days in the Rancho Mirage Health and Rehabilitation Center before being transferred to a Coachella Valley hospital.
The source of the infection is under investigation, Kaiser said.

Kaiser has recommended seniors and those with underlying health issues in Coachella Valley limit non-essential travel.
Monday, Kaiser ordered all public gatherings attracting 10 or more people be cancelled or postponed.
Also on Friday, Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser ordered all schools in Riverside County to close in an effort to step up the fight against COVID-19 spread. This order applies to all public schools, preschools, charter schools, private schools and all colleges and universities in Riverside County.
