Mom, Step-Dad Of Mentally Disabled Woman Arrested In Her Death

Sheriff's officials say that 3 other children were removed from the family home in eastern Riverside County.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A Mesa Verde woman and her husband were arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder in the death of her 18-year-old mentally disabled daughter.

Jill Williams, 35, and 40-year-old Steven Williams, the victim's stepfather, were each being held at the Indio Jail, according to sheriff's Sgt. Wallace Clear.

Kaylina Anderson's death was reported at 12:07 a.m. Saturday in the 18000 block of Palowalla Drive, Clear said. Authorities found Anderson's body in her bedroom.

The victim was known to suffer from severe mental disabilities, requiring her to have full-time care and supervision, the sergeant said, but the cause of her death was not disclosed.

"Due to her diminished physical appearance and substandard living conditions, investigators from the Blythe Station and the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation," Clear said.

Three minors, all 6 years old and under, were removed from the home by Child Protective Services, according to Clear.

Jail records show that both Jill Williams and Steven Williams were booked on suspicion of murder and were being held without bail.
