New Building Chief Hired For Indio
Gilbert Estrada has been selected as the city's new chief building official.

From The City of Indio: The City of Indio has selected Gilbert Estrada as its new Chief Building Official. Estrada will manage the Building & Safety Division of the City’s Community Development Department. In that role, he will guide an experienced and well-respected group of professionals in implementing adopted building and safety regulations intended to help ensure the safety of buildings and structures for Indio residents and businesses.
Estrada brings over 30 years of experience to Indio and has served as the Building Official for the Cities of Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Fontana, and San Bernardino County. Estrada’s official start date is February 18, 2020.
“I’m excited about going to work for Indio, the City of Festivals!” Estrada said, “Each jurisdiction has unique qualities about it that make it interesting and satisfying. I’m confident, that with the help of other staff and my team members, we can help move Building & Safety and the City forward.”

“Gil brings an impressive track record of working in various building and safety capacities throughout Southern California,” Community Development Director Kevin Snyder said. “He is a well-respected Building Official. His experience, knowledge and leadership will be valuable assets to the Community Development Department and the City of Indio.”
Estrada earned a master’s degree in public administration from California State University San Bernardino, a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of La Verne and an associate’s degree in architecture from San Bernardino Valley College.
